their motorcade around the town in the morning of May 5, 2007.
Little Miss Tagudin Winners and Contestants and Miss Tagudin 2007 Reigning
Beauties led by Her Majesty Queen Jennifer I, rode in beautifully adorned
floats, as they all waved and smiled to all spectators.

Almost three thousand Tagudinians and visitors packed at the Municipal
Auditorium as early as 1:00 p.m. to witness the Exhibition Basketball Game
between All Star Basketball Team and ASAP Tagudin Basketball Players.
The "All Star Team" is composed of Philip Salvador, Paul ALvarez, Jeff Tam, Joko
Diaz, Joseph Bitangkol, Jordan Herrera, Bayani Gabayani, Dencio Padilla, James
Blanco and SPM Zuriel Zaragoza, who sponsored this game. On the other hand the
ASAP Tagudin Basketball Players are : Vice-Governor DV Savellano, SPM Jose
Bunoan, Jr., SPM Robert Tudayan, SPM Meljohn Verzosa, Vice Mayor Peter Manzano,
SBM Onofre Bayuga, Mitchel Verzosa, Dr. Michael Verzosa and Tagudin's Selection
of Basketball Players.
Before the said Exhibition Game was the Championship Game in the Inter-Barangay
Basketball League where Farola emerged as the Champions.

After the Exhibition Game at Municipal Auditorium on May 6, 2007, which drew a
great number of crowd, the "All Star Basketball Team" and the "ASAP Tagudin
Basketball Players" enjoyed a sumptous dinner hosted by Mayor Jun at his
residence in Bucao East, tagudin, Ilocos Sur.
They were joined and welcomed by the Tagudin's other local officials, the
Executive Committee and chairpersons of the 3rd Tikanlu Festival, and other
guests.

Farola Basketball Team ("Sincere Team") emerged as the champions in the recently
concluded Inter-Barangay Basketball League 2007.
Championship Games were held at the Municipal Auditorium, May 6, 2007 before the
"All Star vs ASAP Tagudin" Basketball Exhibition Game.
The winners are:

1st Runner-up - Dardarat
2nd Runner-up - Bimmanga
3rd Runner-up - Jardin
Winners were each awarded trophies and cash prizes by Vice-Governor Savellano,

STREET DANCING

Three groups competed during the Street Dancing Competition held last May 3,
2007 at the Municipal Auditorium. The 3 groups were named inline with the 3rd
Tikanlu Festival theme - "Managayat Group", "Napudno Group" and "Nasalimetmet
Group", all from the Non-Government Organization sector.
The Board of Judges was composed of Mr. Virgel Dulatre, Mr. Joewe Tablada and
Ms. Mylene Lazo. The 3 groups were judged based on the following criteria:
1.Street Parade, where participants are to dance to the lively music "Itaktakmo"
in a 4-line formation which could be altered occasionally in accordance to the
choreography.
a. Choreography - 15%
b. Execution and Mastery - 15%
c. Impact on Spectators - 10%
2. Showdown, where participants are to perform for a minimum of 5 minutes and a
maximum time of 10 minutes.
a. Choreography - 25%
b. Execution and Mastery - 25%
c. Costumes and Props - 10%
1st Place - "Managayat Group" - PhP 6,000.00
2nd Place - "Napudno Group" - PhP 5,000.00

One of the highlights of the DepEd Elementary Day is the awarding of the winners
for the "2006-2007 Search for the Cleanest and Greenest School".
Said Search was initiated by the Local Government Unit of Tagudin through the
Municipal Committee on Clean and Green with Mayor Jun as the Honorary Chairman
and Mr. Manuel Dumagpi as its Chairman. The other members are : Mr. Leopoldo
Lacasandile OIC-MPDC, Mun. Engr. Edmund Fabia, Ms. Marina Balicoco GSO, Dr.
Buenafe Medrano, represented by Mr. Henry Limon DepEd, PNP - Tagudin
represented by PO1 Mariecris Acost, Dr. Aly John Lopez (MHO) Mr. Nestor
Guevarra, Municipal Agriculturist Mr. Florante Lacasandile, and Ms. Claudine
Valdez, Information Officer II of the LGU.
Criteria used were:
1. Structural requirements for floors, walls and ceilings, lighting systems
and ventilation - 10 points
2. Classroom Equipments seats, desks, blackboards and whiteboards - 5 points
3. Sanitary Requirements water supply, toilet facilities, handwashing
facilities, drinking facilities and waste water disposal 30 points
4. Solid Waste Management 3 points
5. Safety Requirements 33 points
6. Pest Control 16 points
7. Housekeeping 3 points
TOTAL = 100 points
As for the Rating System all schools were visited TWICE by the Members of the
Municipal Clean and Green Committee composed of ten(10) members who gave their
ratings INDEPENDENTLY, except for Mr. Henry Limon who is DepEd faculty.
The cut-off average for qualifiers is 75%. An exit conference and validation by
the members of the Committee was made after the last assessment to determine the
awardees.

2nd Place - Saint Augustine's School
3rd Place - Tagudin National High School and Becques Community School
4th Place - Libtong Elementary School
5th Place - Borono-Tampugo Primary School
6th Place - Pudoc West Elementary School

All winners received Plaques of Recognition, and for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places
PhP 15,000.00, PhP 10,000.00 and PhP 5,000.00 worth of projects respectively.

DepEd ELEMENTARY DAY

The DepEd Elementary Day on May 2, 2007 started with a parade, where DepEd
Officials, members of the PTCA, pupils and parents marched around the town
proper.
After the parade was a program held at the Municipal Auditorium which showcased
Dance Calisthenics by the Primary Schools of Cabulanglangan, Pacac, Tampugo, San
Miguel and Tallaoen and Folk Dances by Bimmanga Community School, Bio Elementary
School, Ambalayat Elementary School, Ag-aguman Elementary School, Pallogan
Elementary School, Cabugbugan Community School, Becques Community School,
Garitan Community School, Pudoc East Elementary School, Tagudin Central School,
Bitalag Elementary School and Baracbac Elementary School. Interpretative Dances
were also presented by Las-ud Elementary School, San Pedro Community School,
Libtong Community School and Pudoc West Integrated School.
The honored Guest Speaker for this event is DepEd's Schools Division
Superintendednt of the Division of Ilocos Sur, Dr. Rogelio D. Galat, who
expressed his gratitude for being invited to this occasion as the Guest of Honor
and Speaker.
Another highlight of this affair was the awarding of the 2006-2007 winners for
the "2006-2007 Search for the Cleanest and Greenest School" where Tagudin
Central School topped all 28 Primary, Elementary, Secondary and Tertiary private
and public schools of Tagudin, by the Municipal Clean and Green Committee with
Mayor as the Honorary Chairperson and Mr. Manuel as the Committee Chair.
Mrs. Susana Pascasio, Principal I of Las-ud Elementary School is the Chairperson
for the Committee on DepEd Elementary Day.

Tagudinian beauties gathered on May 1, 2007 at 5:30 in the afternoon for the
much-awaited processional, "Flores De Mayo or Santacruzan". Reynas, prinsesas,
sagalas and prinsesitas with their escorts walked around the main road of the
poblacion area.
This is one of the most colorful May-time festivals in the Philippines which
depicts the finding of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena, mother of Constantine the
Great.

The "Search for Little Star" is a singing competition open to all bonafide
Tagudinians ages 7-12 years old.
The Elimination Round was held last April 16, 2007 at Tagudin Central School,
where ten(10) from among twenty-two(22) contestants were chosen by the members
of the Board of Judges as finalists.
These 10 finalists competed May 1, 2007 at the Municipal Auditorium with the
following results:
Little Star 2007 - Reyneil Luchina, Bio Elementary School, with a cash prize of
PhP 3,000.00; Coach: Ms. Roselyn Pigao
1st Runner-up - Charmaine Delos Santos, San Pedro Community School, with a cash
prize of PhP 2,500.00, Coach:Ms. Bernadette Bunoan
2nd Runner-up - Sarah Mae Dela Rosa, Bitalag Elementary School, with a cash
prize of PhP 2,000.00, Coach: Ms. Avelina Elveρa
3rd Runner-up - Jazel Montilla, Bio Elementary School, with a cash prize of PhP
1,500.00, Coach: Ms. Roselyn Pigao
4th Runner-up - Angeli Monis - Las-ud Elementary School, with a cash prize of

TIKANLU CULTURAL SHOW

Under the chairmanship of Mrs. Jocelyn Lamadrid, this year's presentation of the
Tikanlu Cultural Show featured Tagudin's version of "Mel and Jovits" ("Mel and
Joey" of GMA 7) of WOW Philippines Channel One Zero, through the ASAP World TV.
This presentation showcased Tagudin - its rich cultural heritage, history and
humble beginnings, tourist spots, customs and traditions and of course, its
celebration of its town fiesta dubbed as the "3rd Tikanlu Festival, Tagudin Town
Fiesta 2007".
Likewise, it featured interviews of Tagudin's key personnel - Mayor Jun, Dr.
Buenafe Medrano as the town fiesta's Executive Chairperson and the different
Steering Committee Chairpersons.
Performers of the said show include the ASAP Cultural Dancers and LGU personnel
and employees.

AGRO-INDUSTRIAL TRADE FAIR

The formal opening for the Agro-Industrial Trade Fair was made May 1, 2007 at
9:00 in the morning as part of the Tikanlu Cultural Show.
The ceremonnial ribbon-cutting was led by Dr. Marino S. Baytec, Assistant
Schools Division Superintendent od Ilocos Sur, who also is the Guest of Honor
and Speaker for the Trade Fair.
There were eight(8) booths composed of the following schools:
Cluster 1 - Las-ud and Becques
Cluster 2 - Ag-aguman, Cabulanglangan and Pallogan
Cluster 3 - Ambalayat, Cabugbugan and Pudoc East
Cluster 4 - Baracbac and Bitalag
Cluster 5 - Garitan and Libtong
Cluster 6 - San Pedro, Pacac and Pudoc West Integrated School
Cluster 7 - Tagudin Central School, Tampugo and San Miguel
Cluster 8 - Bio, Tallaoen and Bimmanga
Each booth sold and displayed local products of the town. It also showcased
entries for the "Pinaka Search" - a contest for the best and biggest
agricultural products grown in Tagudin. Winners will be announced during its
Culminating Program on the 5th of May 2007.
Mr. Reynard Andaya is the Chairperson of this Committee.

UNVEILING OF THE GIANT TIKANLU

One of the much-awaited highlight of the 3rd Tikanlu Festival, Tagudin Town
Fiesta 2007, is the "Unveileing of the Giant Tikanlu".
For this year, through the Chairmanship of Dr. Perlita Brilliantes, Principal of
Tagudin Central School, a different style was adopted for the "Unveiling".
Instead of a "giant bilao", small "bilaos" were used for this big event. A total
of one hundred eighty three(183) bilaos containing Tagudin's rice delicacies of
"Inkiwar" and "Lubi-lubi" were unveiled by Mayor Jun. There was also "tinubong".
After the unveiling, said delicacies were given to all spectators.

CIVIC PARADE

As early as 6 o'clock in the morning, Tagudinians gathered at Tagudin Central
School for the Civic Parade.
Participants to this event include the Local Government Unit of Tagudin headed
by Mayor Jun, National Line Agencies, Educational Institutions, Non-Government
Organizations, Private Organizations and the general public, who marched around
the main roads of the town proper. Mascots of Purina and Jollibee added
attraction to all spectators, guests, visitors and balikbayans.
Mrs. Jocelyn Lamadrid is the Chairperson for this Committee.

LGU candidate is Miss Tagudin 2007
Jennifer Figuracion, official candidate of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of
Tagudin, emerged as Miss Tagudin 2007, per results of the last canvassing, April
24, 2007.
Miss Tagudin 2007 is a popularity contest of six(6) sponsoring groups:
1. Local Government Unit of Tagudin - Jennifer Figuracion
2. National Line Agencies - Jacky Gyn Taopo
3. Non-Government Organizations(NGO) - Ma. Leonora Sierte

Tagudin bares "Search for Little Star" finalists
On May 1, 2007 at 1:30 in the afternoon, ten(1) pupils from grades 1-6 will
compete for the title "Little Star" - a singing competition.
The Elimination round was conducted last April 16, 2007 at Tagudin Central

20 kids compete for Little Miss Tagudin 2007
20 from among 42 contestants emerged as finalists for the 2007 "Search for
Little Miss Tagudin" in elimination round made at Tagudin Central School last
April 18, 2007.

Inter-brgy basketball tourney opens
The Inter-barangay Basketball Tournament had its formal opening last April 16,
2007 at the Municipal Auditorium.
Thirty(30) teams from 30 barangays will compete in this tournament. Said teams,
divided into two groups are named after traits/characters in line with this
year's 3rd TiKanLu Festival theme: "Tubayen Naimbag A Kababalin, Agbiag Ti
Tagudin!" :

3rd TiKanLu committees meet
The Executive and Steering Committees of the 3rd TiKanLu Festival held its
meeting last April 13, 2007 at the Office of the Mayor. It was presided by
Executive Committee Chairperson, Dr. Buenafe Medrano.
Agenda for the said meeting were:

3. Steering Committee Updates/Status Report
4. Other Issues and Concerns
As to the schedule of activities, it was agreed by the body that there will be
five(5) days of celebration, from May 1 to May 5, 2007.
The theme for this year's fiesta is " Tubayen Nasayaat a Kababalin, Agbiag ti
Tagudin!.
All Steering Committee chairpersons informed the body of their respective
Committee's plans and updates, which generally is more or less 50-75% completed.
