Mayor's home hosts Xmas party 2006

179 officials and employees of the Local Government Unit of Tagudin gathered at Mayor Jun's residence in Bucao East for the annual Christmas Party, December 22, 2006.

This 4-hour Christmas Program was highlighted by various games, exchange-gifts and a sumptuous meal shared by everybody.

16 graduate from beekeeping

December 20,2006 is indeed a remarkable day for the 16 participants who graduated in the BASIC BEEKEEPING TRAINING conducted by the Municipal Agriculture Office, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. The training was fully supported by Municipal Officials headed by the father of ASAP Tagudin, Hon. Roque S. Verzosa Jr. and was confirmed by the Director of the National Agriculture Research and Training Development Institute, Dr. Apolonio Sito. This is one among the 12 Flagship Programs of Mayor Jun.

The extraction of honey from 19 frames highlighted the graduation program as the graduates, visitors and municipal employees watched with awe and enthusiasm.

This training was designed to:
1). Provide the basic beekeeping training and skills in starting beekeeping as a component of their farming system;
2). Introduce beekeeping to conserve and protect the environment;
3). Introduce honeybee products to enrich nutritional food value and
cash income for the people in the community; and
4).To create employment in the community.

The different products derived from honeybees are honey, bee pollen, bee venom, bee wax, propolis, and royal jelly which are highly in demand in both local and international markets.

Beekeeping likewise favors increased crop production and improves quality of harvest through crop pollination, supplementing income, and improves family nutrition for a healthy environment and better quality of living.

Special, malnourished kids celebrate Xmas

With the hopes of providing joy to the seventy-five (75) "adopted" children in our municipality, a gift-giving activity took place in our municipality last December 15, 2006 at the Municipal Auditorium. This is a joint effort of the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC) and the Local Government of Tagudin under the stewardship of Mayor Jun and the continuing support of our generous donors, local and abroad.
Grocery items, milk and vitamins were given to the malnourished children and wheelchairs were also awarded to thirteen(13) "special children", who are with cerebral palsy. Said wheelchairs were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy and Mely Corpuz of the USA.
Also, pediatricians Dr. Nora Ellorin and Dr. Elaine Andaya provided free medical checkups and consultations to these children. Medicines were also given to them.
The theme for this event is : "A New Day for Special Children, A Promise of New Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow".

Stephanie undergoes operation

Through the voluntary assistance of generous and kind-hearted Tagudinians around the world through this website, 5-year old Stephanie Kyla Lubina, one of the many beneficiaries of the ADOPT A CHILD PROGRAM of the present governance under the administration of Hon. Roque S. Verzosa, Jr., had recently undergone her 2nd operation for her HIRSCHPRUNG DISEASE.

November 8, 2006 – with the expertise of Dr. Cesar S. Bernabe as consultant and Dr. Marwin Martinez as Pediasurgeon at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC), San Fernando City, La Union, the young Stephanie braved her 2nd operation known as “PULL THROUGH OPERATION”, where the malfunctioning portion of her intestines was removed then “pulled through” and connected to her rectum. This operation lasted for practically three(3) hours.

At about 5:00 p.m. that very same day, the operation was finished and declared a success. Stephanie stayed for six more days and on November 14, 2006, after having fully recuperated, she was allowed to go home. MSWDO Miss Corazon Villanueva, brought her home via the Municipal Ambulance. Likewise, Miss Villanueva bought all the needed medicines. She (Stephanie) will be returning on the 20th of this month(November) for her check-up.

Stephanie will again be undergoing her 3rd and last operation – CLOSURE OF THE COLOSTOMY (intestines brought out on her belly portion as a means of her excretion, will be brought back in), for her to excrete normally – or via her rectum. Said operation is schedules after a month, probably by the last week of December or early January.

This is just the beginning of Stephanie’s new life for a normal and fully functioning excretory system – ALL MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH YOUR GENEROSITY AND KINDNESS.

To all Tagudinians, who through your assistance – financial or otherwise, made this possible, TI NAIMPUSOAN NGA INKAM PANAGYAMAN.

Children's Month ends with Bright Child Quest 2006

As part of the culminating activity for the Children's Month (October), the 1st ever Bright Child Quest took place at the Municipal Hall on November 10, 2006 with 41 registered births for the October 1-27, 2006 period as participants.

From among the said 41 participants, FRANCIS JOHN L. ANDAYA, was drawn as "Bright Child Quest Winner" by Mayor Jun. Francis John is the 2nd child of Mr. and Mrs. John and Melissa Laplana-Andaya of Barangay Bimmanga. He was awarded a special baby package by the Mayor. The 40 other babies were also given baby packages.

As dealt and approved by the Municipal Council for the protection of Children (MCPC), "Bright Child Winner" will also receive the following benefits and incentives:

1. FREE complete immunization at the Rural Health Unit(RHU). Other immunizations under a private medical practitioner will also be shouldered by the MCPC;
2. FREE issuance of Birth Certificate;
3. FREE Medical and Dental Services at the RHU;
4. Educational Assistance;
5. The Bright Child Winner will also be given preference when he will later apply for a job at the Local Government Unit;
6. FREE Day Care Service Program (Free from participation fee); and
7. Quarterly Food Assistance.

This said activity will already be a yearly event that would help promote the welfare of every child in the municipality, in particular, the health aspect as a continued manifestation of support by the LGU and the MCPC headed by the Honorable Mayor.

It's been two years since the Official Website of Tagudin was launched. Having been of service for a couple of years, the website has been living its purpose, not only as mere publication, but an online portal to Tagudinians and visitors around the world where interaction, awareness, generosity and active participation have been so evidently realized.

Beyond its call as the technological medium for the municipal government to put forth its aims and programs to improve the lives of the people, tagudin.gov.ph also possesses the stance to be competitive by being one of the Top 5 Local Government Websites as mentioned by the National Computer Center. This achievement has never been attained by any municipality of the province in such a short gap of time.

For every little event that transpires in the outskirts of this promising town, the website will ensure that it will be covered so that Tagudinians will be able to realize that it's not just a showcase of stuff but more as a window that makes one look back to where he belongs, no matter where in the world he may be.

Tagudinians visit departed loved ones

Undas 2006 proved to be a very peaceful, orderly, secured and meaningful commemoration for all Tagudinians.

The Local Government Unit in coordination with Guardians Centre Foundation, Inc., Community Involvement and Services (CIS), Bureau of Fire Protection, PNP-Tagudin, Sigma Force, Religious Groups, Barangay Officials and Tanods of the 6 barangays near the Public Cemetery (Las-ud, Tallaoen, Dacutan, Bimmanga, Farola and Dardarat) and other Civic Groups organized "Task Force Kaluluwa 2006" - to ensure that the observance of this year's "Undas" will be elderly and peaceful.

"Task Force Kaluluwa 2006" had the following Steering Committees: Peace and Order, Traffic Control, Medical Team, Control Tower, Christian Religious Concert, Electricity and Sound System, Radio Communications, Environmental Sanitation and Transportation.

All Saints and Souls Day this year, like last year, has been very special with the cemetery being fully-lighted and on the eve of October 31, 2006, a Religious Concert was held at its main entrance participated in by Religious Groups. This ambience gave Tagudinians all the chances and opportunities to visit and pay homage to their departed loved ones.

Basic services were at hand - medical team, communications, safety, transportation, etc. from October 31 to November 2, 2006. Selling, parking, loading and unloading areas and crossing areas were likewise designated.

Indeed "Undas 2006" or "Piesta Daguiti Minatay" in Tagudin for this year has really bridged the gap and longing between us and our departed ones, even for just two days.
