"Mommy Kayam Dayta!" features young Tagudinian moms

The LGU and ABS-CBN Regional Network Group initiated a program entitled " Mommy, Kayam Dayta!" at the Paraiso ti Amburayan, Brgy. Bucao East on October 4, 2008.

The said activity was conducted to enable and empower teenage mothers of Tagudin in three areas: Health Education, Livelihood Seminars and Self-Enhancement Programs.

Vice Mayor Rogelio Lorenzana & Mrs. Irene Castro, Family Planning Regional Coordinator graced the said program which was also featured by ABS CBN.
 
Tagudin celebrates Coop Month

The LGU thru the Municipal Cooperative Development Council celebrated the Cooperative Month on October 2-3, 2008 with the theme " Cooperative Breaking Through Barriers & Beyond".

The activities started with parade of the different cooperative members as well as the Municipal Officials and was followed by an opening program.

Mr. Candelario L. Verzosa, Jr.,Cooperative Consultant & a Former Executive Director of the Cooperative Development Authority; Dir. Josefina B. Bitonio, Assistant Regional Director, Cooperative Development Authority and Mrs. Teresita A. Bunoan, Provincial Cooperative Development Specialist served as the Resource Speakers of the Seminar.

The highlight of this month's activity is the 2-Day Orientation Seminar on Cooperatives.
 
Family Day held in Becques' Anastaz Park

Officials and Employees of the LGU celebrated Family Day on September 30, 2008 at Anastaz Park in Brgy. Becques.

The celebration started with an Opening Prayer leaded by Mrs. Jocelyn Lamadrid, followed by the aerobic “HATAW NA” dancing, participated by all LGU Personnel.

A Birthday Presentation was also given to all birthday celebrants from April to September.

For the rest of the day, everybody enjoyed the variety of games and dances prepared.
 
Tagudinians get fit in "Hataw Na!"

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin launched "Hataw Na", a kind of aerobic dancing, on September 26, 2008 at the Municipal Gymnasium.

This served as a way to strengthen and enhance human resource activity relative to the 108th Civil Service Anniversary celebrated every Month of September. All Officials and employees participated in the said launching. Mrs. Jocelyn Lamadrid served as the "Hataw Na" Dance Instructor.

LGU will be conducting its regular monthly "Hataw Na" after this launching.
 
CPO conducts monthly meeting and family day in Tagudin

The Council of Personnel Officers, Ilocos Sur Chapter composed of HRMO's, Administrative Officers, HRM Practitioners from the different LGU/municipalities, Cities, Provincial Office and National Line Agencies strengthened their bonding & enhanced relationships to establish networking through it's Family Day Celebration on September 24, 2008 at Kandaroma Park, Brgy. Farola.

They also tackled updates of the Civil Service Commission regarding issues and concerns relative to Human Resource Practice. During the rest of the day, they participated in a variety games and dances.

Mayor Jun and Director Hedy Jose Lardizabal graced the activity.
 
Tagudin's calamansi goes to China

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) initiated the 5th Outbound Business Matching or The 5th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair last September 21-25, 2008 at Guangzhou International Exhibition Center Guangzhou, China, where Tagudin's One Town, One Product (OTOP), Calamansi Concentrate was one among the products exhibited in the said affair.

Calamansi Concentrate, one among the "Proudly Tagudin-Made" Products was chosen by DTI to be part of the exhibit, which was conducted purposely for Product Development in terms of labeling and packaging to be able to meet International Standards and also for wider Product Marketing.

SBM Maria Theresa Laranang, Mrs. Marina Balicoco, Municipal General Service Officer and Mrs. Jennifer Llanes, Chairman of the Asap Tagudin Samahan ng Magkakalamansi Development Cooperative (ATSMDC) representted LGU-Tagudin in China.
 
LGU-Tagudin drafts budget for 2009

A Budget Call was held at the Local Chief Executive Residence, Paraiso ti Amburayan, Brgy. Bucao East attended by all Department Heads of the Local Government Unit last September 29, 2008.

This was initiated by the Municipal Budget Officer to be able to properly plan and allocate the income and expenditures of the town for next fiscal year 2009. The different chiefs of Offices each presented their respective budgets, which were consolidated by the Budget Officer and reviewed by all participants.
 
TALA conducts training in food processing

Tagudin Ladies Association conducted a three (3)- day training on Food Processing on September 27-29, 2008 at the Auditorium.

This activity was sponsored by Congressman Eric Singson with Madam Grace Singson as the Guest of Honor and speaker.
 
Mayor Jun is National Outstanding Public Servant by CSC

Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chair Hon. Ricardo L. Saludo conferred to Mayor Jun and the other awardees of the CSC’s “2008 Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees” the most-coveted Lingkod Bayan, Dangal Ng Bayan and PAG ASA Awards, September 19, 2008 at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang Palace.

Mayor Jun is one among the six (6) national PAG ASA awardees – Individual Category, the 1st Mayor in Region I since 1962 to be conferred such award according to CSC Regional Office I.

Tagudin’s ASAP Mayor received a gold gilded medallion, a plaque containing the citation and signature of CSC Chair Saludo, a cash incentive, five (5) years scholarship for his immediate family and other benefits for his exemplary performance as a public servant, specifically for his blueprint for the development of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, thru his “Agpiarkam Siglatmo, Agkaykaysakam Panangrang-aymo (ASAP) Tagudin, where programs on tourism, infrastructure development, revenue enhancement, education, welfare, health, livelihood, agricultural development, environmental management and peace and order were successfully implemented, earning numerous awards and acclaim from local and national groups.

This is an annual search by the CSC Honor and Awards Program to recognize and reward public officials and employees for their outstanding contributions and achievements in the delivery of public service.

PGIS conducts medical mission in Tagudin

A Joint Community Service of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur headed by Gov. DV Savellano and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members initiated by Vice Gov. Jerry Singson and the JCS Medical Mission Team., in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Tagudin rendered medical, dental and surgical assistance to the constituents of Tagudin and other nearby municipalities on September 13, 2008 at the Municipal Gymnasium.

There were seven hundred forty four (744) patients, majority were Tagudinians. Attending specialists were Dr. Federico Anaen, Jr, Dr. Eugene Dauz, Dra. Letecia De Vera, Chiefs-of Hospital of Tagudin General Hospital and Capillarisis Center; Dra. Trina Tabbogan, a surgeon from Gabriela Silang General Hospital; Dra. Gaudencia Ramos, MD III, Dra. Diana Lim, MHO, Dra. Mary Rose Pilar MD II, Dra. Marianne Dauz, MD II; Dr. Gerry Bang-asan, Dr. Efren Cabanit, Dr. Aida Llabres, Dr. Alejo, Dra. Angel Ann Ong, Dr. Jewel Cruzat, Dra. Jennifer Zamora, Dr. Garret Robles, Dra. Harieth Joy Reyno, Dra. Marie Anne Zaide, Dr. Joseph Advincula, Dr. Percival Savella and Dra. Melanie Manuel.

The Rural Health Unit of Tagudin with its staff and volunteer nurses were of assistance during the said Medical Mission.
 
Tagudin bats for computerization

Tagudin's Local Chief Executive Hon. Roque S. Verzosa, Jr. and all LGU Department Heads had a meeting with the Canadian Volunteer Advisers, Ms. Rosalind Hood-Morris and Mr. John Smith on September 9, 2008 at the Office of the Mayor regarding the possible computerization of all data and information of the different offices of the LGU, through their program e-Governance for Municipal Development. Prior to this meeting, the E-Tagudin Committee composed of Program Manager Municipal Accountant Leilani Vee Cabanero and members SBM Maria Theresa L. Laranang, MPDC Mr. Leopoldo Lacasandile and Municipal Treasurer Ms. Adelaida Corpuz attended the 1st batch of five(5) trainings entitled: Information System Strategic Planning(ISSP) at Bauang, La Union where Tagudin's ISSP had been drafted for final submission on or before September 19, 2008.

The said meeting was set for an orientation regarding the Information Systems Strategic Planning and ICT Projects. Ms. Rosalind and Dr. Smith validated and evaluated Tagudin's ISSP after the meeting and visited the Treasury Office for the Business Permits and Licensing Sytem (BPLS).
 
Tagudinian earns record in Agri Eng'g. board exams

Out of the 400 examiners who took up the Board Examination for Agricultural Engineers last August 19- 20, 2008 at the Baguio-Benguet Consumers Cooperative, 157 passed.

One of the fortunate board passers was RENATO BAUTISTA AGUILAR, who hails from Brgy. Bucao East, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, son of Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin Aguilar. He graduated at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering.

The official proclamation was made this August 28, 2008 declaring Mr. Aguilar as the TOP 4 among the passers.

This is a remarkable contribution of Mr. Aguilar to Tagudin and for his Alma Mater, DMMMSU; for setting the highest rank ever made in the Board Examination for Agricultural Engineers, since it was still in 1980’s when DMMMSU topped the said examinations at Top 7.

To Mr. Renato Aguilar, congratulations!
 
Tagudin joins nation in celebrating CSC's 108th year

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin joined in the nationwide celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Commission's 108th Anniversary starting with a short program on September 1, 2008 during the Flag Raising Ceremony.

Part of the program was the Recognition Ceremony for Hon. Mayor Roque S. Verzosa, Jr. for being an awardee of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Pag-asa Award, Individual Category for this year's Search for the Most Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.

Mayor Jun felt overwhelmed by the presentation and gave each co-civil servant a warm embrace. The Vice Mayor and Office of the Sangguniang Bayan likewise presented Resolution No. 122, s 2008, Heartily and Soulfully Congratulating Hon. Mayor Roque S. Verzosa, Jr. for Being Chosen as One of the Receipients of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) or PAG-ASA Awards for this Year's Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.

Staff from the Office of the Mayor and Human Resource Management Office initiated the said program.
 
Typhoon Karen challenges MDCC

A Rescue Operation was conducted at Brgy. Lantag on August 20, 2008, where seven (7) persons - Marilet Pulanco-27 years old, Norma Lucero-57 years old, Maura Lacasandile-36 years old, Jaime Lacasandile-30 years old, Daniel Lascota-39 years old, Region Lucero-25 years old, all from Brgy. Lantag and Narcisa Leal-55 years old from Brgy. Baritao, were stranded at the Amburayan River between Brgy. Lantag and Malacanang. This is because of the big waves and storm surges by tropical cyclone "Karen".

The Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council(MDCC) of the Local Government Unit of Tagudin headed by the mayor immediately took appropriate action on the said operation. Rescuers from the Philippine Coastal Guard in Poro Point San Fernando City, La Union headed by PO1 Rolando T. Navarro, Jr., PO1 Charlie N. Prado, PO2 Dominador F. Banezta, PO3 Ramil R. Rosquita, SN2 Raffy D. Laquiwed, ASN Christopher Efren Barbero, ASN Rodben R. Ventura, ASN Melan A. Garay, ASN Florendo F. De Fiesta, ASN Ramon A. Almonte and ASN Elmer P. Nutar came at the rescue site.

Tagudin PNP headed by PCI Jeff Estanga Fanged were also there together with the Bureau of Fire headed by SFO1 Benjamin Apilado.

After the said operation, the rescued persons were fetched by the Municipal Ambulance and were properly attended at the Rural Health Unit under the care of the RHU staff headed by DR. Aly John Lopez.

ETA turns 10

The Eastern Tagudinians Association celebrated it's 10th Anniversary last July 25, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, New Jersey, USA.

Mr. Mario Lardizabal, the President of the said Association, together with all ETA members prepared a Dinner Dance in celebration for the said occasion. Each one showcased it's Dance Presentation particularly the traditional ones, which brought joy to everybody.

A birthday presentation was also given to Mayor Roque Verzosa, Jr. who turned 52. His beloved wife, Mrs. Evangeline Verzosa was also present during the celebration.

88 donors give blood

The Municipal Health Office headed by Dr. Aly John Lopez conducted a Blood Letting Program at the Municipal Auditorium on July 8, 2008. There were 88 Blood donors who came from the different barangays of Tagudin.

The program was initiated to replenish our present Stockpile at the ITMRC Laboratory and to make health services more accessible to the people of the town.

SBM Elisa Bunoan and ITRMC Laboratory Staff headed by Mrs. Iduna Frigillana- Med. Tech graced the program.

Tagudin gets Municipal Jail of the Year Award

Mayor Jun Verzosa received the Plaque of Appreciation from JCSUPT Benito A. Dorigo, MPSA, OIC Deputy Chief for Admin and Regional Director JSSUPT Emmanuel T. Sicio, for his excellent regard for the development of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology- Regional Office I, last 07 August 2008 during the occasion of the 17th Anniversary of the BJMP-RO1 at the RELC, San Vicente, San Fernando City, La Union. Tagudin Municipal Jail was also awarded as the Best Municipal Jail of the Year in Region I through the leadership of Insp. Willie Tinaza.
 
Justice prevails over the Clemente Ulpindo Ulpindo, Jr. case

The Clemente Ulpindo, Jr. Murder-Robbery case which happened last March 19, 2008 had been successfully solved by PNP-Tagudin as they had apprehended the main suspect (five(5) others have been named and are being investigated), to this case July 1, 2008. A case has already been filed against the suspects at the desk of Hon. Reynaldo Lacasandile, 2nd Provincial Prosecutor, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur - under I.S. #08-437.

This immediate case resolution is one among the 12 Flagship program of ASAP Tagudin, specifically on Peace and Order.
 
Tagudin gets validated as "Child-Friendly" town

Last July 31, 2008, the Municipality of Tagudin had undergone the Regional Validation for the " Most Child Friendly Municipality".

Evaluators came from the Regional Office of San Fernando City,La Union, from the DILG, DSWD, NEDA, Department of Education, Commission on Human Rights and from the Department of Justice.
 
25 couples tie knot in mass civil wedding

Twenty five (25) couples participated the July 2008 Mass Civil Wedding on July 31, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at the Municipal Auditorium.

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin headed by Honorable Mayor Roque S. Verzosa Jr. initiated this activity. Other guests were Honorable Vice Mayor Rogelio Lorenzana, the Sangguniang Bayan Members and Sponsors of the 25 couples.

This activity aims to establish the legality of their marriage and strengthen their bond as couples.

TNHS celebrates Nutrition Month

Tagudin National High School celebrated Nutrition Month last July 24, 2008. A culminating program was held at their school, every student had it's Nutri jingle representation which entertained the audience. They also conducted the 2nd Monthly Mass Induction of SSG, Class and Club Officers.

The program lasted with the Awarding of Winners of the Different Contests.

LGU-Tagudin celebrates nutrition month

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin celebrated Nutrition Month last July 25, 2008, with the theme: "Sa Wastong Nutrisyon ni Mommy, Siguradong Healthy si Baby". A culminating program was held at the Gymnasium graced by the presence of Municipal Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon. Arvin Andaya, Hon. Bernardo Tovera and Hon. Elisa Bunoan.

In connection with the Municipal Nutrition Month Celebration, the LGU also launched the Supplemental Feeding Program for the School Age.

This was also the birthday celebration of our Honorable Mayor Roque S. Verzosa Jr., who celebrated his 52dn birthday last July 25, 2008.

The program ended with the Recognition of Winners for the different contests held at TNHS last July 23, 2008.

Tagudin's delicacies to be featured in Culinary Book

Book Author and Chef Heny Sison, together with Neal Oshima as Photographer, Mr. Bu Castro, and other members of their crew came to Tagudin to shoot our local delicacies - tinubong, inkiwar, lubi-lubi and kundol(white squash) candy. These recipes will be included in the Culinary Book Project entitled: "Naimas! The Food Heritage of Ilocos Sur".

The venue of the said photo coverage, held July 23, 2008, was at Farola, near the lighthouse. Actual preparation and cooking was demonstrated by the delicacy-makers, where the members of the team showed their interest and amazement at the traditional ways demonstrated by the Tagudinians.

The Municipal Tourism Committee assisted said team during the entirety of the photo coverage.
 
GMA 7 visits Tagudin

A TV documentary/magazine format of GMA 7, Jessica Soho Team, came to Tagudin on July 14, 2008, to shoot some places related with their research topic: "Alternative Food for the Masses".

Romabell Yumol, the segment producer of Jessica Soho Team, together with cameramen Rudy Cabungcal and Willier Esplana featured "How to Cook Sinanglaw at Barangay Ambalayat".

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin headed by the Municipal Mayor Jun Verzosa extended assistance to make this documentary show successful. Said show will be televised on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 9:30 p.m.

Tagudin gets validated as "Child-Friendly" town

The Provincial Validation for the "Most Child-Friendly Municipality" took place at the Local Government Unit of Tagudin last June 19, 2008.

Evaluators came from Provincial Social Welfare, DILG, Department of Education, Department of Health and Provincial Planning and Development Office in Vigan City.
 
Mayor Jun is National Semifinalist in CSC's Search for Outstanding Public Officials

Tagudin's ASAP Mayor, Hon. Roque S. Verzosa, Jr. qualified to be one among the eleven(11) NATIONAL SEMIFINALISTS in the Civil Service Commission's (CSC) Honor and Awards Program, PAG-ASA Award, Individual Category for the 2008 Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.

CSC Region IV Director, Allan Poe Carmona came to Tagudin last June 18-19, 2008 for the validation of Mayor Jun's personal and professional profile. Schools, Line Agencies, Private Individuals, LGU officials and employees and other sectors of the town were all consulted and interviewed to validate his nomination.

Indeed the consolidation of outstanding awards can best describe the performance and qualities of Mayor Jun Verzosa.
 
LGU Tagudin pushes solid waste management campaign

With the on-going ECO- ASAP intensive education campaign, a mini material recovery facilities ( MRF) was launched last June 16, 2008, during the Flag Raising Ceremony.

Through these MRFs, different waste materials will be segregated - biodegradable from non-biodegradable, which will ultimately reduce the volume of wastes to be thrown at the Tagudin Controlled Dumpsite. Also, constituents will be made aware of the importance of segregation as part of proper solid waste management.
 
Battle of Bessang Pass commemorated

The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office and the USAFIP-NL ( North Luzon) in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur headed by Hon. Roque S. Verzosa gave tribute to the 60th Anniversary of the first Filipino Military Victory at the Battle of Bessang Pass (1945).

It’s significance was witnessed by a crowd of dignitaries and visitors from the entire region last June 14, 2008 at the ASAP Tagudin Pasarabo Center and Rest Area at the Bitalag Junction Plaza through the Unveiling Ceremony of the Bitalag Junction Marker. The Honorable Eric D. Singson, Representative, 2nd District of Ilocos Sur and Deputy House Speaker for Luzon graced the said affair as the Guest of Honor and Speaker of this affair.

Part of the Anniversary is the unveiling of the Bitalag Junction Marker led by Deputy House Speaker Hon. Eric D. Singson, Representative, 2nd District of Ilocos Sur, PVAO Administrator and Department of National Defense Undersecretary Hon. Ernesto G. Carolina, National Commander of USAFIP-NL BGen Arnulfo D. Banez AFP(Ret) and Mayor Jun. The marker symbolizes the heroism of thousands of Ilocanos soldiers who captured the Japanese Imperial Forces at Bessang Pass during World War II.
 
Tagudin celebrates nation's 110th year of independence

In commemoration with the 2008 National Flag Day and the 110th Independence Day, the Local Government Unit of Tagudin led by Mayor Jun and Vice Mayor Lorenzana, conducted a commemorative program and wreath laying ceremony June 12, 2008 in front of the Municipal Hall.

LGU officials and employees, heads and personnel of National Line Agencies, barangay captains and other constituents joined in this nationwide celebration.
 
PWDs undergo training on handicraft-making

The Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development conducted a “Handicraft Making” last June 11, 2008 at the Municipal Auditorium. Beneficiaries of this activity are the Persons With Disabilities(PWDs).

Mr. Ireneo Alberto, who studied from Tahanang Walang Hagdanan in Vigan City taught them to make different handicrafts such as jewelry boxes, containers and many others. The next batch of training will start on June 12, 2008 at the MSWD Hall, which will be their training site. After they have already undergone these series of trainings, they will then occupy a stall at the ASAP Pasarabo Center and Rest Area in Bitalag where they can already display and sell their products.
 
Tagudinian OFWs join in the celebration of OFW day

14 Tagudinian OFW's accompanied by LGU-Tourism Coordinator Mark Louie Fajardo attended the one-day celebration of OWWA's "Araw Ng Pasasalamat Para Sa Bagong Bayani" for OFWs in Region I last June 7, 2008 at San Fernando City, La Union.

This celebration was composed of different activities: parade, streetdancing and a program held at the St. Louis College Gym. The main event of the program was the oathtaking of all OFW officers in the provincial and regional level by the Acting City Mayor of San Fernando, La Union, Hon. Pancracio Nisce.
 
Mayor Jun journeys to the schools for the 2nd round


"Welcome Back" streamers greeted all pupils and students in the 28 schools as they entered for the 1st day of classes, June 10, 2008. This is part of the present administration's Flagship Program on "Education for all" dubbed as the "Journey to the 28 Schools", where all schools within Tagudin are visited and consulted as to their priority programs and concerns.

Mayor Jun, together with Vice Mayor Lorenzana and members of the Municipal Council, started this "Journey . . ." on the first day of classes by joining in their Flag Ceremony. Both the Mayor and Vice-Mayor gave inspirational messages to the pupils and students stressing on the importance of education. They likewise gave symbolic gifts of pencils and sharpeners to every learner - the pencil symbolizing retention of whatever is learned and the sharpener for the "sharpening of the brain".

To date(June 11, 2008), four(4) schools have already been visited - Tagudin National High School, Borono-Tampugo Elementary School, Becques Community School and Libtong Community School. The other 24 schools will be visited next following the schedule below:

SK leads "Back-to-School"

The Sangguniang Kabataan Officials of Tagudin's 43 Barangays headed by its Federated President Emerlyn Bayuga, conducted a "Back-to-School" Program for indigent elementary pupils and high school students in the municipality, last June 3, 2008 at the Municipal Auditorium.

A series of games were likewise conducted which really brought joy to all the pupils and students. In the said activity, Mayor Jun and SBM Arvin participated.

Gifts of love for the new school year were given to all the 43 pupils and students - notebooks, pad papers, ballpens and pencils.

This activity is in line with the Flagship Program on "Education for All".
 
LGU strengthens anti-rabies campaign

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin, thru its Municipal Health Office headed by Dr. Aly John Lopez, endorsed to PNP-Tagudin two(2) pieces of dog snares as part of the Anti-Rabies Program of the Municipality.

Said dog snares were endorsed last June 2, 2008.

This anti-rabies program aims to safeguard the welfare of the community and to implement the Municipal Ordinance on Astray Animals.
 
Mayor Jun continues his journey in Las-ud

Mayor Jun, on May 28, 2008 visited barangay Las-ud as continuation of his "Journey to the 43 Barangays" for 2007-2010. Barangay officials and residents aired all issues and concerns in their barangay, where the Mayor immediately addressed them.

This said "Journey" was held simultaneous with the ribbon-cutting of the new Multi-Purpose Hall of the said barangay led by Mayor Jun, SBM Pagaduan(former Barangay Captain of Las-ud) and Brgy. Capt. Felisidro Lagria.}
 
Tagudin gets nebulizer from Tan Yan Kee

Tan Yee Kee Foundation, Inc., in Makati City, as part of its Project Asthma : Nebulizer Distribution Program, donated one(1) unit Nebulizer to the Rural Health Unit of Tagudin. Said nebulizer was handed over by Mr. P.O. Domingo, Executive Director of Tan Yan Kee and was received by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Aly John Lopez and RHU Personnel.
 
50 streetlights switched on

Fifty (50) streetlights along the National Highway from San Miguel to Las-ud were lighted, April 26, 2008 at 6 pm. Said lightong ceremony was headed by Manicipal Mayor Roque S. Verzosa, Jr., Vice Mayor Rogelio Lorenzana, Members of the Municipal Council, LGU Chiefs of Offices and employees, Barangay Captains, Tagudin Police PNP and constituents.

The said fifty streetlights is the 1st part of the 200 – streetlight project of the municipality along the National Highway from Bio to Becques.

The ceremonial ribbon – cutting was led by both Mayor Jun and Vice Mayor Lorenzana.

Barangay officials attend BOMB seminar

The seminar/workshop on the Budget Operations Manual for Barangays (BOMB) was conducted to prepare Barangay Officials composed of Barangay Captains, Sangguniang Barangay-Chairman on Appropriations, Barangay Secretaries, Barangay Treasurers and Barangay Record Keepers from the 43 barangays in the municipality to operationalize and implement pertinent provisions of the Local Government Code of 1991 otherwise known as R.A. 7160 on Barangay Budgeting. This was held at the Tagudin District Conference Hall, Tagudin Central School, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur in two(2) batches - the 1st batch attended by 22 barangays was held last March 31-April 3, 2008 and the 2nd batch was attended by 21 barangays last April 8-11, 2008.

There were 2 major parts of the workshop: the 1st focused on Barangay Development Planning facilitated by Mr. Leopoldo Lacasandile, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, which lasted for 2 days with the following outputs:
1. Practical Vision for the Barangay
2. Strategic directions on how to realize the vision
3. Medium-term investment development program for the barangay
4. Priorities for the budget year including their target output and performance indications.

The 2nd part was focused on Barangay Budget Process facilitated by Ms. Fevie Lardizabal, Municipal Budget Officer, which was also conducted for 2 days:

Paul Bayuga grants boys' summer ritual in Dardarat

Balikbayan from Sta. Cruz, California Mr. Leopoldo Bayuga sponsored "Free Operation Tule" dubbed as "Agpatule a Taga-Dardarat, Sagut Aggapu ken Poldo", in his own barangay in Dardarat last April 25, 2008. This is in coordination with the Office of the Mayor, Municipal Health Office and Barangay Officials and Health Workers of Dardarat.

Mr. Poldo Bayuga, who himself is a Registered Nurse helped in the circumcision process.

Prior to the circumcision was the skin testing of all patients to be circumcised and messages from both Brgy. Baptain Rolando Lardizabal and Mr. Leopoldo "Poldo" Bayuga.

Thirty(30) patients were circumcised during the said operation.

To Mr. Leopoldo "Poldo" Bayuga, who promised to make this a regular activity everytime he comes home, agyaman kami unay ti sagut mo nga ayat!

MCGC conducts final assessment

The final assessment/evaluation for the "2008 Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Municipality" was made by the Municipal Clean and Green Committee(MCGC) last March 25-28, 2008 and April 1-4, 2008.

All of the 43 barangays and 28 schools were assessed based on the criteria set forth by the Regional Development Council and the MCGC.

Winners for this Search will be awarded during the upcoming 4th Tikanlu Festival, Tagudin Town Fiesta 2008.
 
Tagudin wins regional award for "Best Practices" and 2nd runner-up for "Best performing LGU"

The Municipality of Tagudin was decleared as CHAMPION for "Best Practices" for its entry "ASAP TAGUDIN" and 2nd Runner-up as "Best Performing LGU" in the recently concluded 2007-2008 RDC-DILG Performance Awards last March 24, 2008 at the Cabugao Resort, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.

"ASAP TAGUDIN" is the total municipal development program of the Municipal Government of Tagudin and is also its advocacy call for greater people participation in local governance. The total municipal development approach is being forefronted by different programs addressing the various socio-economic, cultural and sustainability concerns of the people of Tagudin.

Mayor Jun and Vice Mayor Lorenzana received the awards sponsored by the Regional Development Council(RDC) and the Department of Interior and Local Government, Regional Office I.
 
Tagudinian farmers meet with Mayor Jun

One hundred nine(109) farmers gathered at the Municipal Auditorium last March 28, 2008 to have a dialogue/meeting with Mayor Jun.

This meeting was a result of Mayor Jun's "Journey to the 43 Barangays", where in Cabugbugan, Mr. Federico Villanueva requested that Tagudinian Farmers meet with Mayor JUn so that they could air their concerns regarding farming.

As result of this dialogue and as per request of the farmers for LGU assistance, Mayor Jun added PhP 290,000 as subsidy for hybrid rice to be shared among the 39 farming barangays of Tagudin.
 
49 studes qualify for SPES

49 Tagudinian students with ages 15-22 years old had their briefing with LGU Admin. Officer Jocelyn Lamadrid last April 8, 2008 at the Municipal Hall for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES). They will be having their summer job at LGU-Tagudin, where they will be assigned to the different offices to have their first-hand experience on office work.

This is a joint project of LGU-Tagudin and the Department of Labor and Employment, Ilocos Sur.
 
526 kids graduate in Day Care

Five hundred twenty six (526) pupils from the 34 Day Care Centers in the town graduated last March 14, 2008 at the Municipal Auditorium.

From each of the 34 Day Care Centers, one Day Care Pupil was selected and awarded as the "Most Active" pupil.

This said graduation ceremonies was graced by the presence of Mayor Jun as the Keynote Speaker.
 
Tagudin, Top 5 Regional Finalists for "Best Practices"

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur was evaluated/assessed by the Regional Development Council last March 5, 2008, as it is one among the "Top 5 Regional Finalists" for the "Search for Best Practices Award".

Tagudin, with its Best Practice entry dubbed as "ASAP TAGUDIN", according to the said evaluating team ranked 1st in the initial evaluation for the Regional level, besting the other 19 cities/municipalities in the region who submitted their entries.

Results for this validation/assessment will be known in a week according to the validating team composed of representatives from the National Economic and Development Authority - Ms. mary Jane Cacanindin, Civil Service Commission - Ms. Marichu Cuison, DENR-FMS, R1 - Mr. Jimmy M. Manes, DILG RO1 - Ms. Lily Ann Colisao, and Regional Association of Non-Government Organizations - Mr. Mario Zamoranos.
 
Tagudin adjudged as "Best Performing LGU" in Ilocos Sur

Last March 3, 2008, Tagudin was evaluated by the Regional Development Council (RDC), as Tagudin is a Regional Entry for the "Best Performing LGU" being the Provincial Winner in Ilocos Sur.

This validation/evaluation is based from the Local Government Performance Evaluation System(LGPMS).
 
Tagudinian national Kalasag awardee get prov'l honors

Mr. Romeo Lanuza of Brgy. Tarangotong, National and Regional Kalasag Awardee for Heroic Deed, again received recognition from the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur during the "Ylocos Festival" last February 3, 2008.

The awarding of the plaque, dubbed as Father Burgos Award, the highest to be given in the Province of Ilocos Sur was made during the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Municipal Hall of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. Mr. Lanuza's plaque was handed over by Mayor Jun, Vice Mayor Lorenzana and the members of the Municipal Council.
 
Adhoc committee inspects Bitalag

The Ad Hoc Committee on Bitalag Agro-Industrial Zone Development of Tagudin, created via Special Order, s2008, conducted an ocular inspection last February 21, 2008 to identify, study, recommend, research and make recommendations for the development/improvement of ASAP Tagudin Pasarabo Center and Rest Rest Area (Bitalag Satellite Market).

Tagudin bags "Best Performing LGU" award

The municipality of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, has once again dawned its unprecedented development and success as it garnered the "Best Performing LGU" Award in the entire province of Ilocos Sur, for the year 2006. This was informed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Office through it LGLA Coordinator Mr. Federico Bitonio.

This award relayed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Provincial Office thru its LGLA Coordinator, Mr. Federico Bitonio last January 2008 and was also announces by the Provincial Assessment Team for the "Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Municipality for 2007" thru Ms. Cherry Pestaño, during the validation of Tagudin this January 31, 2008, stating that this municipality is considered among the "Top 3" Cleanest and Greenest Municipalities in the Province.

The "Best Performing LGU Award" is proof of Tagudin's decisive, effective and efficient performance in its participative governance and administration as measured by indices set by the evaluating team and the litany of Awards and citations to its credit.
 
LGU-Tagudin shares the spirit of love

Officials and employees celebrated the month of love last February 15, 2008 with a simple yet meaningful program, with the theme: "Share love and be loved".

This said program was made more exciting with the "Search for My Valentine" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You" games, acknowledgement and gift-giving of all birthday celebrants from January to March, Raffle Draws and the sumptuous snack shared by everybody.
 
SAS kids stage 'Arrival of the ICM Sisters'

On January 28, 2008, Saint Augustine’s School in coordination with the LGU Tagudin relived the arrival of the four (4) ICM Sisters at Barangay Farola, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur.

The alumni pilgrims from St. Theresa’s College Quezon City came to Tagudin to witness this momentous event.

From Barangay Farola, the re-enactment continued until Saint Augustine Parish Church then to Saint Augustine’s School gymnasium for the portrayal of the ICM Sisters’ life here in Tagudin.

The highlight of the portrayal is the drowning of the two (2) sisters at Barangay Pallogan where the re-enactors and audience manifested the agony and dismay for the death of Sister Maria Vincent and Sister Adeltrude, who, despite this mishap, persevered to change the people’s way of living thru Christianity and education.
 
TNHS hosts 5th division training

Tagudin National High School again hosted the 5th Division Leadership Tarining for Student Government Officers last January 29-31, 2008.

Part of its 3-day activity is the "Lakbay Aral" to the different landmarks of Tagudin, a courtesy call to Mayor Jun and a briefing of the profile of the town.

The Municipal Adhoc Committee on Tourism served as "tourist guides" and lecturers to all delegates as they went around the historical and cultural landmarks of the town.

Mayor Jun also hosted in his residence at Bucao East a "merienda siena", where the delegates expressed their gratitude to LGU Tagudin for their assistance and support, through a program.
 
Prov'l. Clean & Green team evaluates Tagudin

The Provincial Validating Team for the "Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Municipality of Ilocos Sur" came to Tagudin last January 31, 2008 to validate and assess the town. According to the team, Tagudin belongs to the "Top 3 Cleanest and Greenest Municipalities" in the Province as per rating in the Self Rater Form.

In this said assessment, Tagudin's rating was validated based on different criteria : General and Physical Cleanliness, Support Systems, Public Safety, etc.

The Municipal Committee on Clean Green accompanied the Provincial Assessment Team as they visited the town - Municipal Hall, Municipal Plaza, significant landmarks and public places, schools, Tagudin Controlled Dumpsite, Tree Parks, etc.

In the exit conference conducted after the visitation/ocular inspection, the Provincial Team gave their initial comment on the town - that it is generally clean with proper solid waste management practices and support systems and a very peaceful municipality. It was further suggested that segregation at source and education campaignsbe more intensified.

Also, during the said assessment, the Provincial evaluating team congratulated Tagudin and Mayor Jun for winning the "Best performing LGU Award" - a proof of Tagudin's continuing quest for success and development.
 
Tagudin bags 17 awards in the "Ylocos Festival"

The municipality of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur bagged seventeen(17) awards in the recently-concluded " Ylocos Festival - Pammadayaw ken Panangbigbig" held in Vigan City from January 31-February 3, 2008.

Following were the awards/recognition received by Tagudin through Vice-Mayor Rogelio A. Lorenzana and SBM Rodolfo Leal, during the Awards and Recognition Program held at the Provincial Capitol last February 3, 2008:

LGU-Tagudin buys new genset

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin purchased one(1) unit 82.5KVA/66KW brand new Perkins Genset Model 1004TG Diesel Engine With Stamford Alternator 3-Phase 220V, 1800 rpm and 60H2, for its use.

Said Genset was purchased through Public Bidding and was delivered, inspected and tested last January 16, 2008, by the Bids and Awards Committee's (BAC) Technical Working Group.
 
BSP build camps at 27th Provincial Jambo in Tagudin

The 27th Provincial Jamborette was held in Tagudin from January 10-13, 2008 with the theme : "Isang Mundo, Isang Pangako".

Said Jamborette was hosted by DepEd Tagudin in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Tagudin. It was held at Camp Roque S. Verzosa, Jr. in barangays Bucao East, Bio and Bucao West.

This 3-day affair showcased various activities such as the Kawan Field Day, Royal Kawan Investiture, Grand Coronation Rites, Grand Campfire, Skills Competition and other activities demonstrating the Boy Scouts' adage of being "Laging Handa". Governor DV Savellano graced this affair during the Skills Competition Day.
 
ABS-CBN features Tagudin

ABS-CBN Channel 2, came to Tagudin, January 12-13, 2008 to feature the town in its program: "NC Atin'to!", shown every Saturday from 10am to 11:30 am.

ILOG seminar held in Tagudin

Last December 27, 2007, the seminar/workshop on Computer Application under the LGUIP-LGU Information Portal Project of the Province of Ilocos Sur known as the Improved Local Operation thru E-Governance (ILOG) was conducted in Tagudin by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Office.

Said hands-on training is designed to help the LGU's enhance their capability to be able to satisfy the requirements of decentralization and local autonomy through the adoption of Information Technology, which is a practical approach to data/information management in support to decision-making, problem solving and seeking opportunities with the ultimate goal of effective service delivery.

This was participated by representatives from the Office of the Mayor, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, Sangguniang Bayan and Office of the Municipal Treasury.
 
Kalamansi Processing Center opens

The ASAP-Tagudin Samahan ng Magkakalamansi Development Cooperative (AT-SMDC) formally opened its Processing Plant for the making of Calamansi Concentrate and Ready-to-drink at the ASAP Tagudin Pasarabo Center and Rest Area in Bitalag, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, last December 19, 2007.

Simultaneous with its opening is the blessing and ribbon-cutting of said center and the turnover of PhP 50,000 worth of tools/equipment from the Department of Trade and Industry. These tools/equipment were handed over to Mayor Jun and AT-SMDC's President Ms. Jennifer V. Llanes by DTI Provincial Director Grace R. Lapastora. Mayor Jun and Dir. Lapastora led in the ceremonnial ribbon-cutting, while Pastor Henry Pasion did the blessing for the Processing Center.

Sangguniang Bayan members, Hon. Elisa Bunoan, Hon. Maria Theresa Laranang and Hon. Fatima Pagaduan graced this event. Also, Tagudinians Association of Canada President Mr. Gerardo Leal and wife Ms. Norma Leal, who expressed their support for this product, Barangay Captains of Tagudin and the LGU Heads of Offices and some employees attended this affair.
 
LGU-Tagudin buys total station for Assessor's Office

The Local Government Unit of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur purchased a unit of a Total Station, DTM 332 Nikon, for the use of the Office of the Municipal Assessor.

This equipment offers superior overall convenience and ease of use, the model having a large graphic LCD, ergonomic keyboard and improved software. It also comes with a remarkable long battery life, waterproof construction and intelligent coding system.

It do the following:

1. Establish a complete inventory of all real properties;
2. Identify unknown properties with tax declaration in the Cadastral Survey;
3. Verification of land or properties subject to boundary dispute; and
4. Correct erroneous survey.
 
LGU-Tagudin officials, employees attend seminar

A 3-day Seminar/Workshop on the Drafting of the town's Market Code and Local Investment Incentive Code (LIIC) was attended by LGU-Tagudin's officials and its Local Finance Committee last December 13-15, 2007 at the Coconut Groove Resort in Bauang, La Union.

This said Seminar/Workshop was conducted by Mr. Romulo Zipagan from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (retired) and staff from the said office.

The Drafting of the Market Code and Local Investment Incentive Code is in preparation for the town's new market which is presently undergoing construction and in support to the 12 Flagship Program of the present administration.
