Tarangotong
BRIEF HISTORY
Long time ago, Barangay Tarangotong did not yet exist. It was still a forestry area. The ancestors of the present barangay came from Barangay Sawat, which is located east of the Barangay.
There was a time when the LAYCO brothers from the neighboring Barangay of Sawat felt that they were already overcrowded in their place, and so they went north to this area now called Tarangotong.
They cleaned and subdivided the place according to the size/area one has cleaned (“dalusan na, bagi na”). It was then called SAN FELIPE.
However, there was a time when the people were gathering rocks to be used in building a dike. These rocks were called “tong-tong”. Because of this, they decided to change the name of the barangay to TARANGOTONG.
