BARANGAY PROFILE
According to the old folks, the Spaniards called this place “SAWAK” because of the many carabaos that have long horns. However, the people changed the letter “K” into “T” which became “SAWAT”.
It was during the Japanese regime when the Barangay Officials registered its name Barangay Sawat. It was in this place where Tagud industry originated. Tagud was one of the most original sources of income of the residents.
Brgy. Sawat is one of the 43 barangays comprising the Municipality of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur. It is approximately 2.5kms. from the east of the town proper. Tricycle is the means of transportation in going to the barangay.
