Gabur
BRIEF HISTORY
About three(3) kilometers east of the Poblacion Area of Tagudin lies Barangay Gabur. It is bounded on the north by Barangay Cabugbugan, on the east by Barangay Cabulanglangan, on the south by Barangay Lacong and on the west by the rice plains of the municipality.
The people of this barangay is a conglomeration of the different people coming from different places.
In the past, the place was barren, so that during the early days, nobody lives in this place. However, as time passed, the creek that runs through the middle of the Barangay overflowed from its banks filling the nearby lands with mud in addition to the mud that came from the nearby mountains. This made the place inviting for migration. People from the surrounding barangays began to flock and temporary reside in the place. Since, the place was covered with mud, it was named as “GABUR”.
Every time people asked about the name of the place or where the people residing there live, GABUR was always the answer.
One time, a Missionary Priest happened to visit the place and asked its name. The residents told him that the place had always been called as GABUR. A Royal Decree was later promulgated by Spain requiring the registration of all barangays. The “pangpangulo” or heads came to an agreement to register the place as GABUR.
