Farola
BRIEF HISTORY
Barangay Farola was named after its Patron Saint, San Roque. As years passed by, a group of missionaries from Belgium headed by Sister MARIE LOUISE DE MEESTER landed by boat together with three (3) other sisters, Charles, Lutgarde and Vincent. They first set their foot to San Roque in June 21, 1910. They built a small parol as a symbol of their landing here in the Philippines, particularly in the Barangay San Roque. Later, this small “Parol” became well known to all fishermen. This served as their guide in going to the sea as well as going back home especially during night time.
As time passed, this “PAROL” or lighthouse became very popular to the neighboring barangays, to the whole town and even to the neighboring towns. The people in the barangay agreed that they will change the name San Roque into PAROLA until it finally became “FAROLA”.
The “PAROL”- was eventually known as “FAROLA LIGHTHOUSE” up to the present.
