Dacutan
BRIEF HISTORY
Long time ago, there was a man who lived in the area where Barangay Dacutan is presently located. This man had three(3) sons, all fit for work.
After a day of resting, the old man called his sons and said: “this place is suited for crops, so we will cultivate and plant this place for our daily needs”.
The eldest son was assigned at the northern part, the second son at the middle portion and the youngest at the southern part.
After days of clearing and preparing the place for planting, the family then planted rice and other crops like mangoes, avocados and bananas.
After several years, of staying, improving and cultivating the place, the old man became weak and can no longer work. He again called his three sons and said: “ I know that I will soon die and I want this place to be named in my memory”. The old man’s name was “DRAKO TAN”.
True indeed that when he died the place was named after him – Dacutan, removing the letter “R” for easier and smoother pronunciation.
