Bucao West
BRIEF HISTORY
During the old times, there was a small place where only a few families were living and only farming (planting PALAY) and fishing were the sources of their income.
The folks narrated that this barangay got his name from Ilocano word “BOKAO” meaning unproductive harvest of palay or in Ilocano term “IPPES”. This barrio suffered unproductive harvest brought by a strong typhoon, a tragedy that the people have not forgotten. Since then, this place had been called “BOKAO” now known as BUCAO.
