BRIEF HISTORY

This barangay is located geographically at the eastern part of the town where farming is one major source of the residents’ livelihood.

According to the old folks, different strangers from other towns come to the place especially during the harvest season of palay. During that time, the barangay owned a big bell which they use in calling for the residents during occasions like meetings, mourning, wedding and other significant events. Because of its beautiful sound its usefulness, some strangers wanted to borrow it. However, the people would like to lend it so they(strangers) planned to steal the bell. Soon after, the people found out that the bell was missing and that the strangers had stolen it.

With what had happened, the people thought that “greediness” was the ultimate motive of the thieves. In the local parlance, “greed” is “agum”. This is why the people called the place as “AG-AGUMAN”.
