The Barangay Focal Persons on Real Property and Tax Administration (RPTA) had their Monthly Meeting, September 7, 2010 at the ABC Hall.

The office of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Hon. Vice Mayor Rogelio Lorenzana awarded a Plaque of Recognition to Ms. Maria Theresa L. Laranang in sincere, grateful and deepest appreciation for her invaluable contribution as Sangguniang Bayan Member during the period from June 30, 2001 up to June 30, 2010 and for being an exemplary official living the ideals of the three-fold thrust of the Local Government Unit of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur.

Afterwhich, the honorable august body moto propio concurred her appointment as Municipal Administrator.

Ms. Maria Theresa Laranang, Municipal Administrator handed over a check worth Php 95,564.00 to Brgy. Pula Officials headed by Brgy. Captain Benedicto Pera as their share in the collection of dredging fees for the months of May, June and July 2010.

This year’s theme “In a RACE to Serve: advancing Responsive, Accessible, Courteous and Effective Public Service” implores all civil servants to respond to the call for change by joining Civil Service Commission (CSC) in providing responsive, accessible, courteous and effective public service or R.A.C.E.

With this month-long celebration, the Civil Service Commission issued Memorandum Circular No. 14, s. 2010 dated July 28, 2010 with identified various events/activities which enjoins all government agencies to actively support and participate.

Thus, in support with the aforementioned celebration, the Local Government Unit of Tagudin conducted a simple program after the flag raising ceremony on September 6, 2010. Vice Mayor Lorenzana talked on behalf of the Mayor while Ms. Thess Laranang, Municipal Administrator delivered the message of Sec. Francisco Duque III, CSC Commissioner.

The formal launching/opening of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of the Landbank of the Philippines located at the entrance of the ASAP Yellow Market was on September 3, 2010.

One of the flagship programs of the administration is e-Tagudin (electronic Tagudin). The presence of an ATM in the area is another breakthrough in response to the growing financial needs of the people of Tagudin and their neighboring municipalities, including motorists passing along the national highway.

Present during the launching are Vice Mayor Lorenzana, Ms. Ma. Theresa Laranang -Municipal Administrator, Ms. Adelaida Corpuz -Municipal Treasurer , Ms. Leilani Vee Cabañero -Municipal Accountant, Ms. Jocelyn Lamadrid -Acting Municipal Agriculturist and  Ms. Marina Balicoco -Municipal General Services Officer together with the Candon Branch Personnel headed by Ms. Adeline Ramos, Manager, who witnessed and graced the event.

Members of the ASAP Tagudin Samahan ng Magkakalamansi Development Cooperative (AT-SMDC) and some Calamansi Growers had undergone Seminar on Vermiculture and Vermicomposting at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Villamor Lagrana, Barangay Las-ud, September 3, 2010.

Said seminar was facilitated by Professor Patricia Barcelo of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) and DOST Provincial Director Ramon Sumabat.

In the event that this project materializes, it could greatly help the calamansi growers and farmers with the organic fertilizer to nurture their plants. This will also address the many environmental problems caused by the burning of leaves and roots. Since vermicomposting makes use of the African Night Crawler (Alinta), which when mixed with organic wastes which serve as their food, their wastes will be used as vermicomposts.

Tagudin has a Municipal Administrator for the 1st time. The legislative body created the office which was subsequently approved by the Provincial Board of Ilocos Sur in July 2010.

Hon. Roque S. Verzosa, Jr., Local Chief Executive and Appointing Authority is seen on photo administering the oath of office to the new Municipal Administrator. She is Ma. Maria Theresa L. Laranang, a former 3-term Municipal Councilor (from July 1, 2000- June 30, 2010). Her appointment is effective September 1, 2010.

The new position is essential in the more effective and efficient delivery of services relative to management and administration of the LGU; coordination of the work of all the officials; establish and maintain sound personnel programs; and conduct continuing organizational development, among others as prescribed by law and the local government code.

Amburayan Dredging Contractors had a meeting with Ms. Thess Laranang, Ms. Aiza Marie Lazaga, Mr. Leopoldo Lacasandile, Engr. Edmund Fabia and Ms. Edna Maneclang regarding Dreding Project. Said meeting was held at the Office of the Mayor Conference Room, September 2, 2010.
